Ryan Gillam

Ryan Gillam is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Opera Theater and Opera Technical Director at Texas State University. He also serves as the resident scenic and lighting designer for opera productions presented by the Music Department.

Prior to joining Texas State, Ryan held director of operations and technical director positions at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, East Texas Baptist University, and Nebraska Wesleyan University. Professionally, he has contributed to the properties department at the Texas Shakespeare Festival, designed for the Young Festival Stage in Waco, and worked as a scenic artist for TW TrainWorx model railroads.

In addition, Ryan maintains an active practice as a commissioned artist, collaborating with
interior designers and private clientele. He earned his BFA in Production Design with an
emphasis in scenery from the Savannah College of Art and Design and holds an MA in Strategic Communication from East Texas Baptist University.
