Dr. Sam H. Flippin joins the School of Music as Assistant Professor of Music Education and director of the University String Project. Before coming to Texas State, Dr. Flippin taught courses at Texas Woman’s University and the University of North Texas. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in music education from UNT.
Before teaching at the university level, Dr. Flippin enjoyed an 11-year career as an orchestra director, teaching middle school and high school in the Houston and north Texas areas. His time in the classroom inspired his research interest in string pedagogy.
Dr. Flippin lives in the San Marcos area with his wife, their two children, and the family dog. They love living in the hill country and are thrilled to become part of the Texas State community.
