Texas State Music Education Program

The Music Education program at Texas State University offers a Bachelor of Music in Music Studies (Education) with all-level Teacher Certification (TExES Music EC-12). Students who complete the program receive training preparing them to be successful band, choir, elementary, mariachi, and orchestra music teachers.  Students may elect to add an optional minor in Composition, Jazz, Mariachi, and/or Opera to this degree program. Please consult the undergraduate course catalog to learn about the requirements for this degree. 

Texas State University offers a Master of Music in Music Education degree to further develop teaching practice and pedagogy.  The program can be completed during the regular academic semesters or over the summer.
