The Master of Music (M.M.) in Music Education is designed to enhance the expertise and proficiency of music educators within their pedagogical area and to further develop their leadership and administrative skills through research-based music teaching pedagogies and practices. Students can tailor their learning experience through degree electives. Music educators with at least three years of teaching experience in Pre-K -12 classrooms will most benefit from this degree program; however, candidates with different should email the music education graduate advisor to be considered for admission

The M.M. in Music Education can be completed during the long academic semesters (Fall/Spring) or during the summer. Scholarships and teaching and research assistantships are available during the long academic semesters for on-campus students. Students with an undergraduate degree in music may pursue teaching certification through our post-baccalaureate certification program through an individualized certification plan based on the remaining required courses.
