Guitar Program

The Texas State Guitar Program offers instruction in classical, jazz and practical guitar. Our classical and jazz guitar performance degree programs include one hour of individual instruction per week to build technique, repertoire and theory applied to guitar skills. Students in these programs participate in guitar ensemble in their respective areas to provide experience in group performance, and there are also opportunities for weekly solo performances through our seminar sessions.

We also offer elective courses in class guitar at varying levels open to all students across the university from beginning to experienced. These elective courses focus on general or practical guitar that include chord vocabulary, playing songs and soloing in blues and rock styles.
