TXST Opera Theatre
Three Barbers and a Rabbit go to the Opera
Bunnies, Barbers, and Opera—Oh My!
Join TX State Opera Theatre for a rollicking good time featuring the illustrious Bugs Bunny, a bevy of barbers, and plenty of backstage shenanigans.
What if the stage manager finally got their moment in the spotlight—singing leading roles while wrangling the chaos of a Marriage of Figaro production? Meanwhile, three singers in their dressing room bring their favorite barber characters to life in a shared space of imagination and celebration.
This operatic flight of fancy features music from El Barberillo de Lavapiés, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Urinetown, and Le nozze di Figaro—plus the unforgettable flair of Bugs Bunny’s The Rabbit of Seville to keep the laughs (and the music) rolling.
Don’t miss this wildly inventive celebration of barbers, bunnies, and brilliant opera!

The Performing Arts Center
Check out the state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center, which was opened in the Fall of 2014. An expansive facility, this is where we do our opera productions, scenes productions, and student recitals.
Designed by the architectural firm of Morris Architects, the 69,122-square-foot facility features two professional-quality performance venues — the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre that seats 397 patrons and the Recital Hall that seats 312 patrons. With instructional space, as well as design and production spaces, the Performing Arts Center is well equipped to meet the educational and artistic production needs of our academic units as it serves the broader San Marcos community
