AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
The 16th Texas State International Piano Festival is happy to announce our First Steve Kahng Piano Competition. The competition will be held in conjunction with the 16th Texas State International Piano Festival, held from June 6 – June 14, 2026 at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. All competitors must be participants of the 16th TSIPF. This competition is open to anyone eligible for the festival.
All application requirements will be due on February 15, 2026. No late or incomplete applications will be considered. Application fee will be $75 (non-refundable).
Six finalists and three alternates will be selected by the pre-screening jury to compete at the 16th TSIPF. Finalists will compete in a live solo round.
Steve Kahng Piano Competition Repertoire
Prescreening Round
Applicants are required to submit 30-40 minutes of solo repertoire of their choice. Applicants are highly encouraged to submit music in various styles that reflect their musicianship in the best way. Movements of sonatas are allowed. Please submit links to the prescreening round to txstateipf@txstate.edu.
Final Round
- Finalists will select a solo program of free repertoire between 25-30 minutes.
- Repertoire from the pre-screening program may be repeated in the final round.
