Who can participate?
Any Texas State student can audition for the TXST Symphony!

Do I have to audition to join the TXST Symphony?
Yes. An audition is required for anyone who wishes to join and perform with the TXST Symphony Orchestra. Check out the Audition tab above for more information

How often does the TXST Symphony rehearse?
We rehearse MWF from 2:00-3:50 pm and perform approximately two to three concerts each semester.

Are any scholarships available for participating in the TXST Symphony?
Orchestra performance awards are financial awards that are available to high-performing instrumentalists on a semester-by-semester basis depending upon availability of funds. For more information regarding consideration for an orchestra performance award, please contact the director of orchestras, Dr. Jacob Harrison - jgh111@txstate.edu.

Where can I purchase concert tickets?
You can purchase tickets at the Texas State Presents website, or visit the events section of the TXST School of Music webpage.

Where can I park when coming to see a concert?
Texas State has very strict parking rules. If you are coming to see a performance in Evans Auditorium there is parking at the Pleasant Street Garage across from the Music Building. Parking for the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre has some street parking available depending on the time of day and paid parking garage behind the Performing Arts Center in the Edward Gary Street Garage.

How can I support the Texas State Symphony Orchestra?
The Texas State Symphony Orchestra welcomes support from all members of the local community we serve. If you are interested in contributing, or would like to find out more about doing so, please click here and type “Orchestra” into the search bar.
Select the Orchestra Music Excellence Fund.
All donations are tax deductible and will go directly to financially supporting students in the TXST Orchestra Program

What kind of repertoire does the TXST Symphony Orchestra Perform?
The TXST Symphony performs all facets of the symphonic repertoire. Major symphonies, concerti, tone poems, works with soloists and choirs, and opera. Additionally, the TXST Symphony has been invited and performed at TMEA repeatedly. You can see our upcoming and past repertoire by clicking on the Repertoire tab at the top of this page!
