Meet the Teachers

Daniel Cavazos

Daniel Cavazos

Daniel is a senior from Georgetown, Texas.

He has three book levels of Suzuki Training and will student teach in the spring. He has taught Suzuki Cello Ensemble for two years, and has had experience with Maroon, Gold, and Advanced Ensembles. He teaches cello privately to all levels.


Maya Linney

Maya Linney

Maya Linney is currently in her Junior year at Texas State University getting her Bachelor of Music in Music Studies with a minor in Art.

Before her time at Texas State, Maya served as the principal violist in the El Paso Symphony Youth orchestra where she played alongside famous violinist Lindsey Stirling, was a founding member of a binational youth orchestra called El Puente (The Bridge), mentored students in the Tocando music outreach program, and performed in several community events in El Paso. In addition to her classical background, Maya plays guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, and ukulele. Maya was a member of the El Paso metal band, Eye of Bermuda, where she released a professionally produced EP, two successful music videos, performed shows across Texas and New Mexico, and opened for several prominent metal bands.

As a Texas State student, Maya is an active member of the Texas State University Rock Ensemble, the Texas State Symphony Orchestra, and the Texas State String Project. 


Veronica Martinez

Veronica Martinez is a Junior Music Studies major with a concentration in violin from Dallas, Texas.

She has experience with string orchestra and she will start teaching privately this Fall semester. She enjoys binge watching different shows with her two cats and is a coffee enthusiast. 


Alisson Pasaol

Allison Pasaol

Alisson is a senior at Texas State University majoring in Music Studies from Austin, TX.

She has been playing cello for 10 years. In String Project, Alisson has taught the Bobcat Beginner classes and teaches cello privately of all levels. In her free time, she does a little bit of yoga and enjoys eating seafood


Apolinar Romero

Apolinar Romero

From Dallas, Texas, Apolinar Romero is a Junior majoring in Music Studies with a concentration in cello at Texas State University.

He has played cello for 10 years, and has been participated in both orchestra and chamber ensembles throughout his high school and early college years. In his first year of teaching, he looks forward to sharing the excitement he has for cello and classical music to his students. In his free time, he enjoys watching a good movie or show on Netflix, and enjoys eating good food.


Kelsey Sexton

Kelsey Sexton

Kelsey holds a BM in Cello Performance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a MM in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

She has performed internationally as a chamber musician and worked with various music outreach programs in the US, Canada, and Europe. During her graduate degree, Kelsey directed an after-school strings program dedicated to the growth and support of string education in Knoxville public schools. She also worked extensively with the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra as a rehearsal assistant, sectional coach, and chamber coach. For the last eight years, Kelsey maintained private teaching studios totaling more than twenty-five students of all ages and playing levels, and has received Suzuki training through Book 7.

Kelsey is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Cello Performance at Texas State University and is a member of the Texas State Graduate String Quartet. In her free time, she takes care of her two cats, 30+ plants, and explores the outdoors. Her favorite candy bar is Twix!


Carolyn Stennis

Carolyn Stennis

Carolyn is a freshman Music Studies major with a viola concentration from Round Rock, Texas.

She teaches violin and viola of all levels.


Matt Velasquez

Matt Velasquez

Matt is a sophomore Viola Performance major from Austin, Texas.

He teaches violin and viola of all levels.


Rachel Watson

Rachel Watson

Rachel Watson is a junior Music Studies major with a cello concentration from Humble, Texas.

She teaches the Maroon Orchestra as well as private cello lessons at all levels and private violin lessons at the beginning level. She is in her third year working with the String Project and has previously taught Suzuki Beginning Cello and Gold Cello classes.


Hailey Welch

Hailey Welch

Hailey Welch is a sophomore Music Studies major with a concentration in violin from Harlingen, Texas.

She has had some experience with mariachi and orchestra and enjoys teaching violin and viola privately of all levels. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her cat, and is currently obsessed with Cajun food.


Noah White-Telles

White-Telles

Noah White-Telles is a violist of nine years, studying Music Education at Texas State University.

After receiving his undergraduate degree, he plans on becoming an orchestra director in his home town of El Paso, Texas. Eventually, he plans on continuing his education in the field of conducting. Noah records and composes music when he is not focusing his efforts on helping students.
